Spirent’s Network Emulators enable precise, controlled injection of latency, bit errors, packet loss, packet jitter, bandwidth policing and other impairments. By replicating these real world conditions in a lab environment, Spirent Emulators are ideal for testing IPTV or VoIP solutions, networked applications and network or storage equipment prior to deployment.

 

Advanced Ethernet Network Emulation

• 16 profiles per line card.
• Profiles defined by any combination of VLAN tag, MPLS label, MAC or IP addresses, TCP port, or any value up to 2000 bytes deep in each Ethernet frame.
• Each profile can have separate delay, bandwidth & impairment settings
• Inject LOS, loss of frame sync, PCS, MAC and higher layer bit errors
• Fixed/periodic or random impairment distributions, single or bursty, multiple impairments
• Enables to dynamically change impairment profiles without restarting the test
• IPTV suite - Selectively drop H.262/H.264 I, B and P frames
• Capture&Replay functionality
• Testing according to TIA-921/G.1050

Signal Delay & Impairment

• Emulates signal delays that occur in SONET/SDH, ITU-T G.709 OTU, CPRI, Fibre Channel or Ethernet networks, adjustable up to 1000ms (200,000km) per direction.
• Capable of injecting bit-errors from 10^-17 to 10^-3, fixed or random.
• Generates Ethernet and Fibre Channel Frame Loss-from every frame to one in every 64K frames.
• Emulates loss of signal or loss of framing sync under user or program control
