The Cellular Performer is a comprehensive cellular analyzer for 2.5G and 3G networks. It is designed for analysis, troubleshooting, fault detection and data collection during a network setup and operation. It provides network wide, high capacity analysis of both network procedures and application layers, with focus on the new challenging networks and services. Supporting all of the most up-to-date cellular protocols, the Cellular Performer runs the GPRS, UMTS, CDMA2000, Network Consultants and Cellular Expert.
The Cellular Performer offers an extensive set of physical and link layer measurements. The measurements help to improve network efficiency irrespective of whether the transport layer is ATM, Frame Relay or Ethernet.
The Cellular Performer also provides fully automatic online and offline GPRS and UMTS deciphering capabilities, session-level analysis of IP sessions and voice calls on individual interfaces or across multiple interfaces within a cellular network or across multiple networks. The Cellular Performer also supports end-to-end voice quality testing.
The Cellular Performer Probe-Analyzers cover all network interfaces – in the Radio Access network, in the CS Core and in the PS Core – providing easy detection of malfunctioning parts of the network. The Consultants monitor the session at the Transport layer, Network layer, and Application layer, evaluating different layers of network functionality. By enabling the user to look at the user-plane traffic, the Consultants also reveal the end-user’s perceived experience. The Consultants feed into the Cellular Expert a breadth of high resolution information that enables the service provider to generate almost any KPI (Key Performance Indicator) and KQI (Key Quality Indicator), including subscriber-level statistics, radio measurements and procedures, transport processes, network delays, and others.
Analyzing packets and cells in real time at up to 2.5 Gbps, the GEAR chip enables users to capture large buffers of traffic and filter/analyze them at full line rates, regardless of the interface types and protocols. Predefined and user-defined analyses and filters allow fast realization of traffic characteristics and pinpointing of abnormal conditions at different layers. Synchronized timestamps enable accurate and time-dependent measurements inside the platform, between several platforms in the lab (using a sync cable) and sites (using a GPS clock).
Radcom's Gear Processor Chip
The GEAR (generic analyser processor chip) analyses packets and cells in real time at up to 2.5 Gbps. It enables users to capture large buffers of traffic and filter/analyse them at full line rates providing session level analysis and difficult problems such as 2.5G/3G hand-over to be analysed in real-time.
The GEAR is not limited by interface type or protocols. It includes predefined and user-defined analyses and filters, which allow fast realisation of traffic characteristics, and pinpointing of abnormal conditions at different layers.

The Cellular Performer Probe-Analyzer
- integrates RADCOM’s proprietary GEAR (generic analyzer processor chip) and powerful hardware-accelerated processing to achieve industry-leading performance. Automatic probe recovery, remote probe management, administration and upgrades enable deployment of large-scale distributed systems.
The Consultants Applications
- In addition to the physical layer and frame-level analysis in the Probe-Analyzer, a wide range of Consultant applications enable session-level analysis for real-time traffic visibility. The Consultants automatically detect and report traffic abnormalities.
The Cellular Expert
- Probe Analyzers generate a broad range of data, from eDRs (Enhanced Data Records) through selected information about defined sessions, to full raw data files. Then the Cellular Expert stores the eDRs in a database, triggering alarms when defined conditions are breached, and generating detailed statistical reports.
The Network Consultant
- correlates traffic from different Consultants for online or offline end-to-end session analysis
